Session: Shenzhen's Action in Good Health and Well being ---Sustainable Development and International Youth Innovation Forum 2020

From December 22 to 23, the "2020 sustainable development and International Youth Innovation Forum" was held in Shenzhen Youth Square by Shenzhen Science and technology innovation Commission, Shenzhen Youth Federation, Shenzhen Youth Entrepreneurship Promotion Association and Shenzhen Institute of Sustainable Development with the  support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United Nations Asia Pacific Economic and Social Council. With the theme of "innovation driven, science and technology enabled, high-quality sustainable development", more than 30,000 young people from over 70 countries all over the world attended the innovation event through virtual and pratical platform, looking forward to the bright future of International Youth Science and technology innovation, and advocating science and technology innovation to promote human sustainable development.


The Forum aims to strengthen the introduction and cultivation of a number of international level strategic scientific and technological talents, leading scientific and technological talents, young scientific and technological talents and high-level innovation teams, so as to gather the world's talents for use. At present, the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic is still rampaging around the world. The organizers further stimulate the vitality of the whole nation's innovation and entrepreneurship, and guide a wider social resources to focus on the sustainable development and industrial structure adjustment direction at home and abroad, and attract outstanding entrepreneurial teams at home and abroad. And enterprises to start business in Shenzhen, strive to create a good ecological environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, and seek the conjunction of scientific and technological innovation and sustainable development.


Xu Youjun, vice chairman of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Gu Shuzhong, deputy director of the development research center of the State Council, Qiu Xuan, Secretary of the Party group and deputy director of the Shenzhen Municipal Commission for science, technology and innovation, Fang Lin, Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and honorary chairman of the Shenzhen Youth Federation, and other leading guests attended the meeting. Almida salcia, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary General of the United Nations Asia Pacific Economic and Social Council, attended the meeting· Ms. Ali shahbana and Dr. Hashim, director of the investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, delivered a speech by video.

Experts' opinion:

Professor Zhou Wei discussed "Shenzhen model of marine ecological environment governance: generation and development". Professor Zhou Wei believes that the marine ecological environment is mainly faced with the problems of biodiversity reduction, coastal wetland decline, fishery resources degradation, and coastal water quality deterioration. He puts forward an effective governance model for Shenzhen, and advocates the scientization, informatization, and standardization of land and sea co-ordination, so as to provide new ideas for Shenzhen to continue to firmly implement the sustainable development plan.


At the meeting, Mr. Zhu Yun had an in-depth discussion on the blue economy and sustainable marine development, emphasizing the positive role of the blue economy in the development of new industries and its important position and role in the implementation of SDG 14. Mr. Zhu Yun called for the issue of "blue bonds" to effectively improve the support for the special funds for sustainable blue economic development, meet the growing financing needs of the blue economy, and play a greater role in the upgrading and transformation of the blue industry.


Mr. Guo Yinfeng introduced the cross-border environmental problems in East and Southeast Asia and the methods of ocean governance by the United Nations Development Programme, and made an in-depth discussion on the blue economic system. Mr. Guo Yinfeng stressed that the cross-border environmental problems include ecosystem change, water shortage, loss and deterioration of animal habitat, problems caused by excessive fishing, pollution and so on. He advocated the "integrated multi tropical aquaculture (IMTA)" method, that is, by expanding the scale of sustainable mariculture, to reduce the pressure of fishing fisheries and meet the growing demand for safe seafood. At the meeting, Mr. Guo Yinfeng put forward a variety of marine and environmental governance methods in combination with blue economy, combined blue economy with marine sustainable development, and gave some suggestions for SDG target implementation.
